MAINTENANCE:

·    Our maintenance crews are equipped and tooled to be successful in any situation, whether changing out a rotten pole or installing new lightning arresters on an existing line.  Our skilled employees operate efficiently to help manage your O&M dollars.

·    As with all Sumter Utilities projects, our main focus is safety.  Safety pays for everyone by minimizing employee injury, reducing property damage and eliminating unscheduled power outages.

NEW CONSTRUCTION:

·    With millions of dollars planned for transmission construction projects throughout the Southeast, cost-efficient construction of new transmission lines is a premium.  Our crews can provide efficient, on-time construction for projects of all conductor sizes and line lengths.  We can help you provide that additional electrical capacity required to serve your consumers.

RECONDUCTORING:

·    The on-time, safe replacement of existing conductors with new larger conductors is critical in meeting the rising consumer electrical needs in high growth-rate areas.  Our crews are completely equipped with all of the necessary protective equipment and tooling for all types of re-conductor projects.

·    Safety is a primary concern when working a major reconductoring project.  Our crews take every precaution to ensure proper phasing minimizing the dangers of damaging sensitive consumer equipment.

·    Traffic control is also an important safety factor.  All crews are equipped with the necessary traffic control devices to safely manage the work zone.

RELIABILITY:

·    Our crews excel when managing transmission reliability projects!  Whether replacing lightning arresters, installing bird guards, or replacing damaged hardware, our crews can efficiently make these repairs while minimizing consumer impact.  

HOT WORK

·    When you absolutely cannot get a line clearance, our crews are capable of hot line work up to 230,000V!  These skilled employees also “glove” up to 46kV and use insulated fiberglass, hot sticks over 46kV.

·    Our energized transmission projects include pole change out, lightning arrester installation, static replacement, hardware and insulator replacement, etc.

SAFETY:

·    No job is so important that we compromise safety.  At Sumter Utilities, Safety really is Job #1~We operate a full-time safety department consisting of a manager and two field safety specialists  All crews are inspected and graded on their safety performance every six weeks.

·    Our field employees are rewarded for their safety work methods though our Safety Incentive Program.

·    Sumter Utilities maintains one of the lowest Worker’s Comp Experience Modification Rates in the Southeast.

 

MODERN FLEET:

·    Our fleet is up-to-date and  meticulously maintained.

·    All trucks and equipment are standardized to project a professional graphic image to our customer, their consumers, and to the public.

·    Our complete, comprehensive equipment inventories include: hydraulic cranes; aerial bucket trucks; digger derricks and pressure diggers; all types conductor stringing equipment; excavation machinery including backhoes, dozers, loaders and trenchers.

·    All crews are completely tooled for the work they are performing.
