MAIN TYPES OF OVERHEAD DISTRIBUTION INCLUDE:

POLE CHANGE OUT:

Managing your pole change-out cost and meeting your budget is the key to your success and ours!  Our crews efficiently replace decayed poles, rotten cross arms, and rusted hardware by monitoring crew productivity on a daily basis. We also manage your consumer relationships by minimizing property damage, outages, and construction inconvenience.

RECONDUCTORING:

·    The on-time, safe replacement of existing conductors  with new larger conductors is critical in meeting the rising consumer electrical needs in high growth-rate urban areas.  Our crews are completely equipped with all of the necessary protective equipment and tooling for all types of re-conductor projects.

·    Safety is a primary concern when working a major reconductoring project.  Our crews take every precaution to ensure proper phasing minimizing the dangers of damaging sensitive consumer equipment.

·    Traffic control is also an important safety factor.  All crews are equipped with the necessary traffic control devices to safely manage the work zone.

RELIABILITY:

·    Our crews excel when managing a feeder reliability project!  Whether replacing lightning arresters, installing cutouts, or replacing damaged hardware, our crews can efficiently make these repairs while minimizing consumer impact.

CABLE TV MAKE READY PROJECTS:

·    The ability to manage multiple work locations is critical to the success of any cable make-ready project.  Our foremen effectively coordinate the multiple functions of their crews – setting poles, raising primary and secondary conductors, and ensuring that all construction meets the National Electrical Safety Code.  They also successfully coordinate the needs of the electric utility and cable and telephone companies. Our crews are also able to further reduce your pole cost and minimize construction hassles by providing turnkey service.  On several projects we have successfully installed new poles, transferred primary and seconday attachments, and, then, relocated cable and telephone cables.  Once completed, we promptly complete as-builts and notify you of our completion. Sumter Utilities can provide “one-stop” service for your entire cable make ready needs through working relationships with our Quanta sister companies.  These companies offer unsurpassed cable TV and telecommunication construction services.  Through our Quanta alliance, we can provide your complete make ready needs – eliminating the time-consuming coordination function between the electric utility, the telecommunication company, and the various contractors.
